WTD Kenya Conference 2025: Our First-Ever Conference - Event Recap

Technical Writers, UX Writers, Authors, Editors, Content Creators, Writers etc
I'm a Growing Developer with a keen interest in technology, particularly in the areas of open-source and Python. As a passionate technical writer, I aim to share my knowledge with other developers through informative articles that help them grow and succeed.
On June 7th, 2025, we made history at Zetech University in Nairobi by hosting the inaugural Write the Docs Kenya Conference, and what a day it was.
Following our successful community summit in 2024, this marked a bold step forward, our first full-fledged conference, featuring over a dozen speakers, a good number of our community members, and most excitingly, three international speakers joining us from India, Spain, and Nigeria.
It was a day when the Kenyan tech writing community stood tall and reached across borders.
From Summit to Conference: Why This Matters
The 2024 summit reminded us that there is growing momentum for documentation not only in Kenya but throughout Africa as a whole. With this in mind, WTD Kenya 2025 was built on that with more structure, visibility, and a global presence.
This event was not only about sharing knowledge but creating a platform for African documentarians to connect with the world.
Honoring Our International Speakers
One of the biggest honors of this year’s event was welcoming three amazing speakers from beyond our borders.

🇮🇳 Susheel Kumar from India, who shared practical insights on bridging the content needs between different development teams.
🇪🇸 Radina Matic from Spain shared insights on the importance of accessibility and what we should keep in mind while designing documents for users with disabilities.
🇳🇬 Sooter Saalu from Nigeria - who led a session on Interactive and Executable API documentation.
Their presence not only brought diverse perspectives but also reinforced that Kenya is on the map as a vibrant hub for documentation professionals.
As a community, we are grateful for the effort they made to be with us in person and for the ideas they shared with our local community.
More Speaker Sessions that Shaped the Day

Beyond our international guests, we had a stellar lineup of regional and local voices who led sessions on:
Scaling Open-Source documentation with AI.
Scaling Documentation for a Global Audience: Localization and Accessibility Best Practices
IMPORT, COPY, REPEAT: Breaking Free from the Tech Karaoke Cycle
Leveraging GenAI for Rapid Documentation Prototyping
Using Cloud Logging to Write Better Troubleshooting Docs
Enhancing Technical Documentation with MDX
Using AI Language Learning Models To Write Your Docs With Prompt Engineering
The Art of Test Documentation
Each speaker brought clarity and inspiration to the stage.
Connection, Growth, and Shared Purpose

More than the sessions, it was the human moments that defined the day.
First-time speakers getting recognition.
Deep conversations during drink breaks.
Interactive sessions with Q&A.
A Word of Thanks to the Organizers
None of this would have been possible without the WTD Kenya organizing team, whose tireless planning and community spirit created the space for this magic to happen.
From logistics to communication, speaker onboarding to venue coordination, your work was outstanding.
Thank you to our Sponsors and Partners, Write The Docs, MCM, Zetech University, and Africa’s Talking without forgetting the volunteers, and all who made this event welcoming.
Moments That Mattered
We’ll be sharing more highlights on our social channels, but here’s a quick look at what the day felt like:
What’s Next?
WTD Kenya is just getting started.
In the months ahead, we’re planning:
Local workshops and writer meetups

More speaker opportunities
And… WTD Kenya Conference 2026.
Finally
To everyone who showed up from Nairobi, from across Kenya, and across the world, thank you.
This was more than a conference. It was a signal that Africa is writing the docs, and the world is listening.
Let’s keep documenting, collaborating, and building together.
